Kitchen Renovation Costs in North & West Vancouver
A cabinet refresh and a complete kitchen reconfiguration are different purchases. Before comparing totals, decide whether the layout, appliances, flooring and services stay or change. This guide separates published budget examples from the scope you need a contractor to price.

Published cost examples — compare the scope
Published contractor planning examples, not Sunify prices, quotes, a market average, or directly comparable packages. Amounts are Canadian dollars. Each source defines its own scope; unless expressly stated, tax treatment, appliances, design, permits and other inclusions have not been independently reconciled. Confirm them in a project-specific written quote.
| Published scope | CAD range | Source and limits |
|---|---|---|
| West Vancouver kitchen renovation | $60,000–$120,000+ | QUAY’s published range; the guide identifies layout and finish selection as variables. QUAY Construction — West Vancouver contractor cost guide |
| Vancouver condo kitchen renovation | $35,000–$70,000 | Domicile’s separate condo scope, not a price for every detached-home kitchen. Domicile Construction — Condo renovation pricing |
Sources can describe very different projects. We do not average these ranges, promise to match them or apply a universal West Vancouver surcharge.
Build a scope before choosing a budget bracket
Write down what will be retained: cabinet boxes, layout, appliances, flooring, windows and doors. Then list what must be replaced. A quote for new doors on existing cabinet boxes cannot be compared directly with a quote for new cabinetry and a revised layout.
For an island, specify its intended use, seating, dimensions and whether it needs a sink, cooking appliance or power. Ask the team to identify the feasibility and qualified-trade work before treating an inspiration image as an approved plan.
Separate allowances from fixed specifications
Request the cabinet specification, countertop material and thickness, edge treatment, backsplash area, appliance models and installation responsibilities. A small allowance can make a total look attractive while leaving much of the eventual purchase unresolved.
A useful comparison sheet has four columns: item, included specification, allowance or fixed price, and exclusions. Record countertop fabrication, cutouts, templating, delivery, installation and disposal explicitly. Ask who supplies each item and who carries the risk if an owner-supplied item does not fit.
Retained layout versus wall and service changes
Changing the layout can affect more than cabinets. The comparison should include any required structural design, work around the opening, flooring repairs, electrical changes, plumbing relocation and ventilation route. It should not assume that a wall can be removed from a photograph.
For West Vancouver, check the District’s permit process for the proposed work. North Vancouver City and District are separate jurisdictions. A condo also has its own strata requirements; an owner should obtain the applicable building instructions rather than assume a contractor’s estimate is permission to start.

Protect the budget before demolition
Ask for a sequence that separates selections, approvals, ordering, demolition, installation and handover. Cabinet delivery and countertop templating should be considered before the existing kitchen is removed. Agree how you will cook, store food and access occupied rooms during the work.
Keep a separate owner-controlled reserve for unresolved conditions and selection changes. Its size should reflect the particular project, not a percentage presented as sufficient for every home. Record changes in writing before approving the extra work.
What to discuss for your North Shore property
For an Ambleside, Dundarave, Lonsdale or other North Shore property, provide the actual access and building constraints: stairs, parking arrangements, delivery routes, work-hour rules and whether the home stays occupied. A neighbourhood name alone does not establish a cost premium.
Sunify’s project discussion starts with your current kitchen and priorities. Published figures above are research context only. A Sunify quote requires an agreed scope, selections and an appropriate site review; it does not borrow another contractor’s price.
Prepare a useful project brief
- Current photos and approximate kitchen dimensions
- Retain layout or propose an island, wall or service change?
- Cabinet, counter and appliance preferences or specifications
- Exact municipality and any strata renovation instructions
- Rooms and flooring affected beyond the kitchen
- Owner-supplied items, preferred timing and optional budget range
Start with photos and a description. Do not send identity documents or sensitive property records through a public comment. Our website form does not upload files; photos can be texted or emailed through the contact options.

Municipal and provincial links are the starting point for checking requirements. Contractor examples are their own published estimates, not Sunify projects or independently audited market data. This guide is not an approval, legal opinion or fixed quotation. Check current requirements for the actual property and proposed work.
