If you already have a vented hood and want to swap it for a new one, the job is usually straightforward: we remove the old unit, check that the existing duct and damper are sound, mount the new hood, and reconnect it to the existing venting. A like-for-like range hood replacement is the quickest and most affordable path when the ductwork is already in place.
New ducted installation and exterior duct venting
When a kitchen has never had ducted venting — or the current hood just recirculates — we can run new duct to the exterior through a wall, soffit, or roof, and fit a proper exterior termination cap with a backdraft damper. This range hood vent installation is the more involved path, because not every kitchen has a clean route to an outside wall.
We assess the cabinetry, the space above the hood, and the distance to the nearest exterior wall before committing to a plan, and we tell you honestly when an exterior duct run isn't practical rather than promising every layout can be vented straight outside.
