Painting is the finishing step after drywall and ceiling repair, including walls and ceilings put right after a leak has been fixed and dried.
When repainting is the last stage of putting a room back together after a resolved leak, it is part of our interior repairs after water damage, where we rebuild the affected finishes and then repaint them to match.

Compare the room and preparation scope, not just the paint colour
List walls, ceilings, trim and doors separately for each room. Ask whether the quote includes minor filling, larger drywall repairs, cleaning, primer, finish coats, protection and cleanup. Record the selected product, sheen and colours, plus any owner-supplied materials or exclusions.
Preparation depends on the existing surface and the selected coating. Manufacturer guidance calls for a clean, dry, sound surface and a suitable primer where needed. A wall with peeling paint, an unresolved stain or a poor previous patch needs assessment before a new finish is chosen; paint is not a repair for an active leak.
For cabinet-door-only work, use the separate cabinet-door service linked below. Cabinet doors, room walls and passage doors have different preparation and access questions; they should not be treated as interchangeable quantities in a quote.
Plan an interior repaint around an occupied home
Before dates are agreed, identify the rooms you need to keep using, furniture that must move, access routes and any strata work-hour or elevator restrictions. Confirm who moves belongings and how the work area will be separated from the rest of the home.
Discuss ventilation during and after the work and follow the selected product’s label and technical guidance. A low-VOC label is not a promise that a room can be used immediately. Touch-dry, ready for another coat and fully cured describe different stages; temperature, humidity and the coating affect timing.
Ask when furniture can return and when the finish can be cleaned. We agree a sequence for the actual rooms and products rather than promise that every occupied home can be repainted in a fixed number of days.
Check older coatings and moisture concerns before preparation
Tell us the approximate age of the home and about any known coating tests, peeling surfaces, recurring dampness or previous repairs. Photos help frame the enquiry, but they cannot establish whether a coating or substrate contains a hazardous material.
Do not scrape, sand or disturb suspect paint or textured material to prepare a quote request. Appropriate assessment by a qualified professional comes before work that could disturb it. Hazardous-material testing, removal and remediation are not included in an ordinary painting scope.
If moisture or mould is recurring, the underlying cause needs attention before redecorating. Any specialist investigation, remediation or substantial rebuilding should be identified separately, not hidden inside a painting allowance.

There is no single lifespan for every painted surface. Existing condition, preparation, coating choice, moisture, wear and maintenance all matter. We discuss the suitable finish and care instructions for your project; an online year range is not a project-specific warranty.

Tell us which rooms and access routes must remain available. We discuss furniture, work-area separation, ventilation and the selected product’s drying and curing requirements before agreeing a sequence. Continuous room access or same-day return to use should not be assumed.
The written scope should identify the repairs, preparation, primer and finish coats included. A few filled holes are different from rebuilding a damaged wall. Surface condition and coating compatibility are assessed before the preparation and paint system are confirmed.
Leave suspect material undisturbed and tell us before work is scoped. A qualified professional should assess it before preparation that could disturb it. Sunify does not present an ordinary painting quote as hazardous-material testing or remediation.
